Network Experimentation Facilities: A National Laboratory for Advanced Network Research
Passive Measurement Analysis and Active Measurement Probe (OC-12 ATM). BERT Tester
connected to Ethernet fabric; ability to generate flows up to 10 Gbps. Syslog-ng facilties as well
as NTOP and Netflow logging/collection services housed at the AMPATH Rack LAN. GFP
Framing ­ VCAT/LCAS circuit provisioning capabilities using Cisco ONS 15454.
Applications Support: VRVS (Virtual Room Videoconferencing System)/EVO (Enabling
Virtual Organizations) reflector in the NAP of the Americas; a system whereby users can
collaborate virtually in multi-point audio/video conferencing.
AMPATH provides collocation space and network access to the CHEPREO Tier3 site via the
network infrastructure in place. OSG sites are interconnected via the national research backbone
and CHEPREO's Tier3 has ready access to the national research network backbones (National
Lambda Rail, Ultralight, and Internet2) via a Gigabit Ethernet connection to AMPATH's Ethernet
fabric. International connectivity to other CMS sites (such as Brazil's SPRACE and HEPGRID)
is also possible due to established peering relationships between AMPATH and research
networks in the State of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro via direct connection using long haul fiber
