UltraScience---Oak Ridge National Laboratory is using to 10G waves between Starlight and
Sunnyvale for its next generation US DOE large-scale science projects with requirements that
will drive extreme networking. UltraScience http://www.csm.ornl.gov/ultranet/
TransLight/Pacific Wave---Developing distributed exchange facility on the West Coast to allow
interconnection
of
international
R&E
networks.

EnLIGHTened Computing---Developing a dynamic, adaptive, coordinated and optimized use
of networks connecting geographically distributed high-end computing resources and
instrumentation. EnLIGHTened Computing http://www.enlightenedcomputing.org/
CHEETAH---Developing infrastructure and networking technologies to support a broad class of
e-Science projects and specifically Terascale Supernova Initiative (TSI). CHEETAH
http://www.cheetah.cs.virginia.edu/
Atlantic Wave---Atlantic Wave (A-Wave) is an international peering fabric interconnecting: US,
Canada, Europe, and South America. With distributed IP peering points in New York City,
Washington D.C., Atlanta, Miami, Sao Paulo. A-Wave is an integral part of International
Research Networks Connections program (NSF) providing the following multi-layer/multi-
protocol services between participating networks: Layer 3 peering services over Ethernet, GLIF
"light path" services, Others TBD. Atlantic Wave (A-Wave)  http://atlanticwave.net/
Pacific Wave---utilize NLR infrastructure in a joint project to create, deploy and operate an
advanced, extensible peering facility along entire US Pacific Coast. Pacific Wave

CAMERA---Leverage NLR infrastructure, as part of effort to build state-of-the-are,
computational resource and develop software tools to decipher genetic code of communities of
microbial life in world oceans. CAMERA http://camera.calit2.net/
CAPS---APS's mission is to develop and demonstrate techniques for the numerical analysis and
prediction of high-impact local weather and environmental conditions, with emphasis on the
assimilation of observations from Doppler radars and other advanced in-situ and remote sensing
systems. Center for Analysis and Prediction of Storms
Other Services:
For those who have special needs
NLR can offer researchers a range of other services that are primarily in support of, but can be
separate from, the core network services. These services include: Colocation Services, Cross
Connections, Fiber IRUs and Remote Hands
NLR Optical Switching---NLR has partnered with research groups of members--MREN,
MCNC, and LONI- to test capabilities of optical cross-connect (OXC) platforms linked by NLR
Layer 1 infrastructure.
NLRview--- NLRview is an infrastructure currently being deployed at NLR PacketNet and
FrameNet facilities to support network measurement and other network research applications.
