Internet2 decommissioned the HOPI (Hybrid Optical Packet Infrastructure) testbed as Internet2

implemented the new Internet2 Dynamic Circuit (DC) Network. The Internet2 DC Network is a

direct result of the experimentation carried out on the HOPI testbed.

Finally, Internet2 and GÉANT2 completed two point-to-point service trials across the Atlantic in

2007.  The trials were designed to provide insight into the operational set-up, ongoing

coordination and monitoring needs of cross-domain static, circuit services. The results of the

trials are informing ongoing work to create operational agreements between Internet2, GÉANT2

and ESnet to provision static circuits across and between their respective networks to support

international research efforts.
