Figure 51: SINET's connection at MANLAN
The 2.5Gbps line to Los Angeles will be upgraded to 10Gbps in March 2008, and SINET3 will be
connected to Pacific Wave at US West Coast with 10GE, where ESnet and Abilene are with
10GE. The primary path with ESnet and Abilene will move from MANLAN to PacificWave then.
The New York line will be almost dedicated for the traffic with Geant. Though the connection to
the ISP will be upgraded from 2Gbps to 3Gbps at both New York and Los Angeles, 7Gbps line in
New York will be protected for traffic with Geant and 7Gbps Los Angeles line will be for ESnet
and Geant. For example, both the traffic for RHIC and for LHC runs on the same New York line
at present, but in April 2008 the traffic for RHIC will go through Los Angeles line and the New
York line will mostly be used for LHC. 7Gbps line for LHC is mostly thought to be sufficient
(Figure 52 and Figure 53 ).
